DAAG Education: Scout Badges

Our Badge classes will incorporate all the required steps plus a ton of creative fun to complete the Badge, be it for Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. All supplies are included and each class cost varies regarding supplies needed. Please contact us to we can support you and your group.

We typically schedule GS classes at your convenience after school or on the weekends.  Please try to contact us at least 3 weeks in advance. Actual Badge is not included but all requirements will be met to earn the Badge.  There is a minimum of 8 girls in order to carry out the event. If you are a small troop, please call us and we will try to work with your constraints.

All parties require reservations and a $50 non-refundable deposit that will be subtracted from your bill on the day of your party.

Example: Painting Badge Class for Brownies                                          

2 days, $15 per girl – Each Girl will take home 2 paintings on canvas paper. The troop will leave with a group mural.  This badge can happen in one 3 hour session or be broken up into 2 separate days.

Day 1:

Step 1 – Get inspired – look and learn about 5 different painters and paintings:  The workshop leader will introduce 5 painters to the girls.  He/she will show examples of his/her paintings, and talk about techniques and time frames.     

Step 2 – Paint the real world – Paint a portrait of a friend, yourself or still life:  The girls will decide what they want to paint and try to focus on one technique shown from the inspiring artists to replicate.  The workshop leader will also talk about proportions and show examples.

Step 3 – Paint a mood – choose a mood:  The workshop leader will talk about emotions and the 'feeling' of certain paintings.  The workshop leader will talk about the use of color, shapes and tones to convey moods.  The girls will get to make their own abstract emotion painting.

Day 2:

Step 4 – Paint without brushes – Paint with indoor objects and with stamps: The girls will get to experiment painting with different objects such as spoons, forks, palette knives, sponges, cotton swabs, feathers, string, and bubble wrap in order to complete their abstract painting.

Step 5 – Paint a mural – choice of subject:  The girls will all participate in designing and painting a mural.
